A Blended-Learning Course on Research
and Policy Advocacy
for Social Determinants of Health (SDH)

August 2015 – March 2016


pengantarBackground

  • Social Determinants of Health is an important issue for improving health status in the community.

  • Many students in the school of public health, medical sciences as well as social sciences in Asia Pacific region who have already conducted studies on health that involve social perspectives but have no chance to publish them.

  • At the same time, governments in these countries need inputs and pressures to address issues in social determinants of health in their policies and programs.

  • Academics and students in public health should learn about SDH, research method, writing academic papers and policy brief to policy makers.

Project INTREC has developed and tested the modules on social determinant of health. These modules can be retrieved in the website (www.intrec.info) and will become the basis for this blended-learning course.

 

TujuanThe aims of program is support to:

  • Understanding SDH and research on this issue.
  • Publishing their paper on social determinants of health in peer reviewed journals.
  • Delivering their research findings to politicians and government agencies.

  • Writing papers for publication based on material they have, either as part of a thesis, dissertation, or other previous research is the source of lessons in the field of SDH.

  • Our program provides facilitation and assistance in completing paper manuscripts and policy brief draft based on researched already done by participants.

prosesThe Programs and Method of Delivery

This is a blended learning Course. Blended Learning is used to describe learning that mixes various event-based activities, including face-to-face classrooms, live e-learning, and self-paced learning.

pesertaWho can apply?

  • Graduates from MPH programs or Master in Social Sciences or newly PhD graduate who did research related to one of the issues of social determinants of health.

  • Age is no more that 40 years old.

  • Citizens from countries in Asia Pacific Regions.

  • Has been or still working on their own data (qualitative and/ or quantitative)
